Meet Marc Reese, The Black Sphere Staff Writer for ObamaWatch, and author of ObamAmerica - Where Delusion Meets Reality. In this blog, Marc details Obama's faith. - Collaboration with Kevin Jackson
In the wake of the Trinity United church controversy, the Obama's began attending the Apostolic Church of God, 6320 Dorchester Ave, however it doesn't appear that they are going that often. If their charitable contributions are any indication, the church won't miss them that much.
Politico.com reports that,
"President-elect Barack Obama has yet to attend church services since winning the White House earlier this month, a departure from the example of his two immediate predecessors," and he has indeed elected to play basketball."
Asked about the president-elect's decision to not attend church, a transition aide noted that the Obamas valued their faith experience in Chicago, but were concerned about the impact their large retinue may have on other parishioners. The aid went on to further say,
"Because they have a great deal of respect for places of worship, they do not want to draw unwelcome or inappropriate attention to a church not used to the attention their attendance would draw."
Well attention indeed, because Obama's attendance in the church might confuse the faithful into believing that the rapture is at hand. Remember, the media told us that Obama is "the second coming". Praise Jesus!
So as the article went on to say, Obama chooses to find religious solace in the basketball gym. Missing Sunday service must pain him dearly, devout Muslim…oops I mean Christian that he is. The sacrifice he makes for us evangelicals.
In what Obama has described as "the worst economic crisis in American history…no, well not quite as bad as The Great Depression…no, well not quite as bad as during the Carter administration", anyway who, but our Messiah can get us through. Who can we look to for "change"?
Fear not America. The president-elect has a crack staff to make his decisions for him. They afford him the leisure of shooting hoops in the name of the LAWD. Can I get a witness? [towel wipe] Hallelujah!
Yes, the appointment of all the Clinton cronies and other Washington retreads has afforded the president-elect more time than he anticipated. Translated: With Billary in for their 3rd term, he just needs to show up at press conferences and look "presidential".
Now please don't consider me a right-wing neocon cracker spewing inflammatory rhetoric and creating trouble for our new leader. I will leave that to the experts on the other side of the color line, namely Sharpton and Jackson. They have the time now.
Nevertheless, what troubles me is that The Messiah apparently feels that he no longer needs the evangelicals now that the election is over. And I thought the marginalization of the Black vote by White politicians was the height of hypocrisy. But Obama pimped Gentiles, Jews, and yes…Muslims too!
With a firm spiritual base that one gets on the basketball court, it's no wonder why he supports partial birth abortion and teaching sex education to 2nd-graders. Who's got next game?
That's the rant!

Isn't this the height of conceit? As you have stated in your article other presidents have found time to attend church without the constant hounding of the press. But not Obama right? He is such a rock star. Whatever. Hey Obama, it is called Secret Service, moron! That is their job, to make sure you can do things of that nature without any undue chaos. Didn't anyone make him aware of any of this before he ran? What a dillweed.
I sincerely dread 1-20-09...I will be mourning by wearing black. I really do not like this man.
Lillith2008, I am right there with you on that thought. I try to block it out but when reality sets in, I get a crush of sadness/fear. It is like looking forward to 10 root canals in one day kind of feeling :-P
Kevin, I am too dumb to 'get your blog over and feeding from your website' huhwhat?
I might have to get my daughter to help me with that, I would love to help you out.
Driving to my parents (to Maryland) this morning (from Va) I saw a bumper sticker, it said Thank you President Bush. I want one of those.
Happy Thanksgiving/happy shopping

Obama doesn't want to draw attention to a place of worship. But a gym is okay.
What does he think a gym is? It's a place of secular body worship.
Why should we believe that Mr Obama is a Christian? My pastor says that if someone was to accuse you of being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you? Well, what evidence is there? Just because he went to church sometimes...look what church he went to! He is pro-abortion also. Please. Christian? I think not.
Lilith, email me so I can get your address, and I will walk you through getting added to the blog. As for other comments, all I can say is Obama is doing exactly what he wants to be doing on Sunday morning. He snowed all the evangelicals who voted for him, though I find it difficult for somebody to be a truly "religious" person, and vote for Obama. Maybe they are all hooping it up at the gym together?
Djohn-
That is the best analogy I've heard yet. Is there enough evidence to convict you? That's simple and profound. Love it.
As for The One, he would be released due to lack of evidence.
I still can't figure out why a Black Theology Church is labeled Christian anyway...No God Fearing Pastor or Priest would ever defile the Pulpit like Rev. Wright and his friends have done. Nor would they allow someone like Farrakhan to speak....
No Christians there...The Lions will go Hungry tonight.

So he got the media to make a huge deal of his religion and then dropped it when it no longer became a political necessity. That gives him more time to worship himself.

FTA "The Messiah apparently feels that he no longer needs the evangelicals now that the election is over."
Buuuutttt that's not "The Messiah" I thought I knew.
How could this be???
You mean he..............lied to us??
You mean he..............used us just for votes??
You mean...................we're thrown under the bus with the others??
Thanks for another fantastic rant theblacksphere!

Seems like the norm with Obama these day and we will see a lot more back peddling, during his time as president.
His true self is starting to show and even a lot of Democrats, that I know personally, are now questioning the man & even themselves.
The corruption and fear that this election has brought and will bring, is only making things worse for us all.
We can thank the media propaganda and relentless spinning of facts, during the campaign, as to why we know have a man that nobody really know as the POTUS. The last thing we need with the current economical crisis, is more disappointed citizens and more hatred towards our Government. But from another angle, maybe it's just what was needed to wake up the rest of the county, to see how corrupt our Government truly is. There will be some dark times ahead and we will ALL( every American citizen) need to band together, as a United Country if we are going to survive. We need our Government to once again be solely "FOR THE PEOPLE" by whatever means necessary.

A friend of mine said to me the other day "I thought we were going to get change" (when she remarked about the past Clinton cronies coming back). I laughed at her remarks and said "what did you expect?"...you listened to nothing but the biased media and were led down the path they wanted to take you. You get what you deserve...the only problem is the rest of us are getting what we don't deserve. We tired to tell people, we asked them what do you know about this guy, and it fell upon deft ears.
You are right mycutepetpics; "maybe it's just what was needed to wake up the rest of the country"..

If I claimed to be a Christian, I would probably look f/guidance in the gymnasium/church attendance question w/i Scripture. If I queried someone familiar w/Scripture, he would probably point to the comparison made betw/Hebrews 10:25 & I Timothy 4:8. This happy conclusion, of course, assumes that the information sought would not be above the pay grade of the person I asked.

I know a few people that regret their vote for Obama. If only the media had given a little attention to his "career" built on waste and fraud. The evidence was there, but they were fooled by a slick marketing scheme.
