American Mayors Take Note

Hat tip to Rev Wayne Perryman and Jeff Morton for sending this to me.

This lady has been mayor for 31 years, and the city has $0 of debt, and $700M in reserve. Solution: Low taxes and attracting businesses to her city. Think America's big city Democrat mayors could learn a thing or two?

Is it just me, or does she remind you of Sarah Palin?

(Stand by for gratuitous shot at Canadians - Americans who talk different) Hot child in the City, eh?

Seriously, I'm impressed. Jobs and low taxes...who would have thought.

I SO SO wish that American politicians (other than a glaring minority of them) would adopt that approach to LEADERSHIP. Of course, she must have a heck of a City Council of legislators to back her up too. Another strike against us here; slimy crooks in suits occupying that domed building in D.C.

Yes, she is pretty fantastic..a model for not only mayors in the U.S. but other Canadian mayors.

As for your little time table on the left of your page, since President Obama has not been office for 3 months yet..aren't you a little hasty in your opinion of him? Stay in Canada.

That was a feel good video in the purist sense of the words. Since Detroit is Hockey Town, I wonder if we could lure her here.

Kevin I think there are to many things on one page and you have to scroll down to far to see everything. Not sure how a blogger account is used and set up but other blogs have previous pages and so forth. You might want to try that at some point in time.

Also since at lest I didn't see how to contact you another idea would be to add more links.Again my knowledge of blogger and google is limited so I am not much help.

Good luck with this and so far it looks good.

@Necromancer - There are many positive changes coming with the new book launch, the videos, the radio show, the online magazine, and finally THE BLOG! Thanks for the inputs however.

I never said this because I never met a politican that deserve one term much less 31 years, but she sure does. What a concept, make the government friendly to business and those that actually pay taxes. What does our new mayor in Sacramento does? Raise taxes, cut services and now going to build a park for the homeless to camp out at since everyone is complaining about the tent camps here off the American River. Wow, I didn't know those bums were paying taxes. The biggest reason they camp here is there's no room in SF where they get their free monthly check for their booze and drugs so they camp out here. Now we're raising taxes, losing services to provide to these bums. Well, I guess different suit, same insane policies. Take from the productive and give to the nonproductive. All this after the state tax increases that make California not only the most taxed people in the country, but possibly the world. I say let her run for the governship, but with this leglisature and President, they'll find a way to call her a traitor or some other radical that's dangerous to the American people because she's too fiscally responsible.

I agree madmath1, this lady should serve in perpetuity! She is awesome!

Wow, she's terrific - We could use several dozen (at least) of her in the States. Tnanks for tuning me in to her!

WOW, that made me homesick!! I'm from Toronto (Mississauga is a suburb of Toronto) and am now in Denver. Hazel McCallion is a very nice lady, but can be pitbull tough when required. She is the gold standard for civic leadership in Canada. Thanks for posting this, it was such a nice surprise to come across.

...and yes, she reminds me of Sarah Palin too :)

@Kelly - Thanks for stopping by, Eh! That lady can run any city she chooses in America! Canada should be proud!

While they mentioned her attitude about campaigning they failed to mention one other interesting note. She doesn't. No signs, no flyers, no door knocking. Nada. Having grown up in Mississauga I can't remember the last time she ran a campaign. Yet she still gets better than 80% of the vote every time.

The Black Sphere said...

@PB - I'd vote for her every time!

Sad that you had to be the one to point her out to a Canuck.

I don't watch CBC (the network that Rick's show airs on) so I missed this one. But leave it to Rick to be the one to notice her. For sure her low tax, pro business attitude is a pure fix to ensure that the real news organs of CBC and CTV would ignore her.

Agreed, and what a lady!
