But the really lucky ones are “the old and the poor.” For it is they who need the healing wisdom and cool assurances that can only come from “the anointed one,” as Reuters reported here:
“Obama supports the delay, sharing concerns that 20 million mostly poor, elderly and rural households were not ready for the congressionally mandated switch.”
At least Obama had the decency not to alarm the “chirrens” and just kept this potential crisis amongst only old and poor grown folks.
The hypocrisy is that Obama flies all over the world mentioning the self-indulgence of Americans, while he delays a digital television conversion—because every person in America might not have television coverage. Talk about an enabler. More here...

Blow up the TV. -- We use ours for NASCAR only, with a lovely set of rabbit ears on the top! Now NASCAR is on cable for the summer so we are hunkered down in front of the radio!
I think I would die if I had that box blathering at me all day long!
WInes the laymen can't pronounce - hilarious.
How could he keep up his daily television spots if no one had TV. I think I would become bulimic if I had to watch him on TV all the time. Reason number 745 to not have TV but one of the top 5.
@Parisienne - Farm girls have to work. No time for TV!
@Julie - I barf when I see the guy, so I agree!
Yeah...this digital revolution is going to be real fun when a hurricane barrels through, too. In 1992, when Hurricane Andrew nearly blew the doors in on the house I was hunkered down in, the analog tv signal kept us informed. Now with the "advanced" digital air signal, the bloody thing gets scrambled with a typical South Florida thunder shower. Gee, thanks missa gubment.
What document gives Congress the right to MANDATE that the American people switch from an analog signal to a digital one, not to mention the hardware to receive such signals?
I re-read the Constitution of the United States, and I can't find it anywhere.
1984 must be overcome by 1776...
Waaaaaait! TV switched to digital?
Everybody has to be on the same page. How else can they control us.
Well, "they" will never control me. In fact, no one will.
I am the undisputed master of my household and family.
And I have my wife's permission to say that..! ;-)
@Euripedes - I know! Digital!
@Tominator - Very funny stuff!
I guess it's all really too convenient. Start a big push for political change, remove access to the media for those who don't realize there are many other sources of information, and filter what information that is needed where necessary.
If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say it's all part of a larger plan. Since I'm not, I think it only is more proof that too many in the U.S. have forgotten that their citizenship hinges on being informed and vocal. Ignorance is bliss on the road to Hell, even if it is paved with good intentions.
What was the purpose of that switch anyway? I heard on a Seattle TV station that it would allow more analog channels for the police & fire departments to have at their disposal. Is that really the reason? Why would they need more channels? Is there something big coming down that we don't know about? Linda in Washington state
LMAO. EPW. It's so true yet they act like you've thrown scalding hot water on them when you point it out.
