"Now you might be asking, "What has changed that added the additional 500,000 to the goal?" Did the US hit the Nigerian lotto? Did we find Al Capone's real vault? Short answer: Nothing has changed. However, when you are full of empty promises, you can promise whatever you like. Next week Obama will likely increase the jobs goal to five million, no, make it ten!
Recall in my blog Obama the Creator of 2.5M Jobs that I defined 'save' in Obamaspeak. The clue here is that if you get to keep your job, then Obama saved it. It really is that simple. When it is all said and done, Obama will likely take credit for "saving" ten million jobs, and the media, liberal pundits, and so on will be anointing his feet with oil."
This article in Yahoo News validates my ability as a prophet:
"For a second time since his election, Obama increased the number of jobs his jobs program would create, taking the number to as many as 4.1 million jobs saved or created — a benchmark his critics charge cannot be measured. During the campaign, he promised only 1 million new jobs."
So I was a month off, and a little short on the number, but the new tally is 4.1M jobs. Pretty close to the five million I suggested. And there are nine days left until Obama's coronation, so the ultimate number of ten million remains in the cross hairs!
So exactly how much stock can we put in these new promises? Here is the answer in Obama's own words:
"I want to be realistic here. Not everything that we talked about during the campaign are we going to be able to do on the pace we had hoped," Obama told ABC's "This Week" for an interview set to air Sunday."
Really! Translation from ObamaSpeak : I pimped you prostitutes, but good. - Taxacious
And as I have reported numerous times, what comment from the Obama team would be complete without the requisite "get out of jail" clauses? Here are two from the article:
The 14-page analysis, which was posted online, says estimates are "subject to significant margins of error" — because of the assumptions that went into the economic models and because it is not known what might pass Congress.
If Congress fails to enact a big economic recovery plan, Obama's advisers estimate that an additional 3 million to 4 million jobs will disappear before the recession ends. Obama's team also noted that with or without the plan, the jobless rate by 2014 would be the same.
Here's the wrap:
Obama believes in his ability to mesmerize the American public. Up to this point, he has certainly achieved more than likely he even dreamed of.
He thinks he's still campaigning, and we are witnessing how Obama will govern…constant campaigning. Because when you have no good ideas, you must constantly test the crazy ones!
He will throw out numbers, concepts, notions, and potions. Judge the response, then repeat. And when he gets the answer you want to hear, he will promise that.
Obama can make all the promises that he wants, as it will mean nothing. Because as Stephanopoulus said of Clinton in an interview with Larry King, "…the President has kept all the promises he intended to keep." Like Obama's cabinet selections, he will be no different than Clinton with regard to promises.
That's my rant!

The majority of the jobs will be Government union jobs..
.just what we need...an even bigger, more ineffective government!
Every new promise means a broken old promise.
First it was no tax increase for 300,000, then 250,000, then 200,000 then 175,000.. I don't even know where he left off. The number is probably so low now he won't even mention it.
Perhaps he'll use clintonese, "define create, define saved". I was never impressed with the man's intelligence, but I knew a great deal of Americans, especially those in government and the media, were bright people and will eat his mantra up. How many people will think if it wasn't for him, the job they have would be gone so I better vote for him. Given I'm force to being a professional temp, does that mean any temp job I get will be one of the created or saved? Since they're not government jobs, I will say no. How about creating a business climate (here in CA it's considered to be not the worse just in the country, but the world) that's benevolent towards job creation, not the tax the manure out of businesses, regulate (unless it's pirates on Wall Street, Fannie Mae or Mac) to strangulation, or make energy costs so high that a windmill looks better. I can't wait to hear more fairy tales from this administration and see how many people stay in fantasyland and we're not even at Disneyland.
dang, I hate it when I find a spelling error after I post. most americans, especially in government and the media, weren't bright people, not were.

Obama also has plans for a civilian national security force, which is more frightening than all his other plans put together.
" We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set.
We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong,
just as well-funded.”
--Obama July 2, 2008 in a speech in Chicago
(which has since been edited out!)
Brown shirts anyone?
Madmath1 - Get your grammar in check my friend! Just kidding. We know you are a smart guy...after all, you're not a liberal!
swifttallon
4.1 million? that should just about cover most of the illegal aliens
jaynyc
Since no government can create or generate real wealth, they will have to pay for these new jobs from loans (treasuries - the bubble is about to burst), or legitimate taxes, or by the illegal inflation tax - printing money.
swifttalon - clever! I like that.

Maybe the liberals should just pass a law making it illegal to be unemployed. That should fix things in a hurry.
Zubata - That was hysterical! But do you really think that a law requiring work would scare most liberals?!
I just discovered your blog by clicking on your name at Biased Girl's blog. I do not now how we've manged to miss this blog until now, but we're now following it. What an excellent blog!
(NJ-Woman)
2 Conservative Women - Thanks for the kind words, and I am happy to have you following. I think you will certainly get a few laughs along the way!
I found your blog through a tweet on Twitter.
Great post and great analysis of The Smooth Talker from Chicago/Hawaii/Kenya/?????.
Adding you to my blogroll.
Ya gotta love the use of focus groups and polls to create an economic stimulus plan. Sheer...ahem...nuttiness.
You're a smarty pants.!.
I LOVE reading your blog. Thanks for all the GREAT info & insight.
The pencil is a great metaphor: just erase what you said previously Dear Leader, you'll only write in a new number. This "man" (I say becuase he has no backbone apparently) has shifted on EVERYTHING from Iraq, to GTMO, to taxes, to socialist mentalities, to bailouts, to economic plans, to job creations, to environmental policies. Rush Limbaugh is right (as usual), Dear Leader is a gifted politician whom will say whatever he needs to say to survive the day. Just like Clinton, however Clinton lied to save the day, Dear Leader may be not be lying but he isn't putting his foot down on anything other than that bus he's driving over his former allies, friends, and ideas.
Great blog, 1st time reader sent form BigDaveP from twitter
JohnAllison - Thanks for the add! Love the Chicago/Hawaii/Kenya reference!
RIP - I am indeed a smarty pants! But I only use my powers for GOOD, and that is smashing liberals.
Kudzu630 - I agree on the metaphor. Took a little hunting to find something appropriate!

I still have a very simple question on Obama's jobs and that is how do you know when jobs are saved, how is that a known factor??????
Dewhead
I think a law should be passed that Presidents and members of congress should have to pass a test in order to obtain a license to practice their profession. Hairdressers, insurance agents, teachers, nurses, loan officers, mechanics, and so on all have to show basic knowledge in their fields to get paid. But not our dummies in the government. Obama is supposed to be such a smart guy (in what? winning elections?) but he is an idiot about basic economic principles. Government does not create jobs. If there was a demand for these jobs the private sector whould have created them. Obama is a freaking socialist and a dumb one at that.

I particularly like the following comments:
"He thinks he's still campaigning, and we are witnessing how Obama will govern…constant campaigning. Because when you have no good ideas, you must constantly test the crazy ones!"
"He will throw out numbers, concepts, notions, and potions. Judge the response, then repeat. And when he gets the answer you want to hear, he will promise that."
The comment "he will throw out numbers, concepts, notions...etc. reminds me of the movie Airplane...if you throw **** against the fan...what happens?

The big lie, as pointed out in an earlier blog is the word SAVED. first, you can't measure that except to say, X number of people that were employed did not lose their jobs. Second, the president and any government policy has NOTHING to do with that save a bill that would force businesses to never fire employees and make it a crime to file for bankruptcy. Unfortunately, the people that SAVED the jobs were the american people and the entrepreneurial spirit, but the MSM will be so happy to give that credit to Obama. Watch this one, it will happen and we should all be prepared to castigate any media personality that promotes this fallacy.

Well it could be like Jamaican, one million people will have 4 jobs each....i mean, you would have to have that many because with all the taxes, you will have to have that many to take home enough to get by!!!!!
Do you know what infuriates me about this? The fact that he can arbitrarily throw these figures out as self-evident truths, while none of the media questions it aggressively. Remember how McCain's campaign proposals were subjected to rigorous (and some might argue BIASED) journalistic scrutiny? His tax, health and spending proposals got raked over the coals by mainstream media, and these same brilliant folks won't challenge Obama at all on how he's coming up with this stuff, or what it ultimately means. It's Orwellian -- and I'm offended by the assumption that he thinks nobody knows better.
Javier, only the messiah can just pull numbers out of his butt, with no media scrutiny. Amazing!

Jane Q Republican points out, as long as 4.1 million people are still employed after year 4, he has kept his promise. Talk about ambitious.
i see the draft is around the corner
Great rant, Kevin!
PSO has been caught flip-flopping again, this time on closing gitmo his first 100 days in office. Do you think something he heard from Pres. Bush advisors is making him change his mind? I'm waiting and watching for the closure of gitmo to use as an excuse to expand my arms collection.
I am so glad I didn't vote for him, cause his double-speak is so mind bogging, and should be a real cause of concern for his kool-aide drinking followers.
Rose-Bud you haven't seen anything yet. This is pre-president. Just wait until he actually doesn't have a White guy to blame!
He will wake up one morning and say,
"I have seen the boogeyman, and it is I!"

"significant margins of error"
" I want to be realistic here...we won't get the levels we discussed during the campaign"
Is that like saying if Slick Willie smoked pot, but didn't really inhale...
Then I voted for him but didn't really punch the hole in the ballot..
I just plugged in Obama's numbers into my self programmed economic software and when the computer was done with the calculus, a funny thing happened: My computer made a simulated hand, slapped me in the head and said in a synthesized voice "You should of have had a V8.
I work at a Fortune 500 company. One "reason" that they announced that there will be no raises this year is "economic uncertainty". A pre-emptive strike from a big business on Obummer's upcoming tax increases, I assume. So, if the business survives in the first place from a situation he helped to create, will he count the thousands of jobs "saved" in this company in his grand tally? Probably. Liberal math works that way.
Looks like I picked the wrong year to look for a better job.
Stormin' of course that is how liberal math works! Why not just count all the jobs and make it easy?!
have to put this in here-- :-)
Just heard Rush Limbaugh describing what SHOULD be happening in the economy since Obama's package is so well known and coming so quickly.. Rush said there should be a huge SPURT of economic activity! We should all be saying "great, the package will save us all, the economy will be fine after the package is inserted, let's buy stock and grow businesses and place large orders now!"
Business leadership knows the truth. They are not 'SPURTING" because Obama's PACKAGE is a big load of nothing. No government spending ever actually stimulated an economy other than WAR spending when our lives are all at stake.
Obama's package fails to impress or deliver. End of myth. :-)
another great piece of work, Kevin, keep it up!
Dave in Dallas
Dr Dave, you know you are my hero! And yes, end of the myth for sure!

How the hell can you know if you've "saved" a job? Sounds like a backdoor for fudging your numbers when Obama fucks it up.

Hi Kevin
I went looking for your radio show but was not smart enough to figure out that site. :O(
As for the those new jobs. We in Michigan have already learned what the results will be from the BHO plan. Gov. Jenny Granholm trashed Michigan doing just what BHO has planned for America.
