Right Where the Terrorists Want Us!
I have often discussed what it takes to wage war effectively, and the most critical ingredient is intelligence. You Bush-haters shouldn't try to take advantage of this next statement. After the initial push in Iraq, our problems were a lack of intelligence…oh, and there were the bothersome mainstream media and the Liberals.
The terrorists had us right where they wanted us.
So how do you gather intelligence? Believe it or not, the first step is to establish an embassy. An embassy allows you to embed people into the culture of the nation you are watching. You learn their language, their habits, and their culture, and have the ability to keep their fingers on the pulse of society.
If there long enough, the embedded people actually become indigenous with the general population, blending in with the locals to a large degree. At this point, you are now able to gather effective intelligence. Perhaps a better way to put this is you have your spy network in place.
Because the spy network is not just your people, but indigenous people sympathetic to your cause, you eventually recruit shop owners, policemen, legislators, and so on as part of your network. Having this network allows you to shape policy, so that it meets the needs of your nation. This is not as sinister as it may appear.
In Iraq and Afghanistan, it took the US some time to establish an effective intelligence gathering organization and proper network. They didn't trust us. We had abandoned countries, governments, people in the past, and they weren't sold that we wouldn't do this again.
Next, most of us don't look like them. The people of these countries lead difficult lives. They have two seasons in that region of the world: Damn hot and damn cold. They essentially live to survive. They have fought despots and invaders for centuries, and it shows on their battle-worn, leathery faces. So even the Muslim expatriates-turned-US-citizens would stick out like a Hell's Angel at a Starbucks.
It would take some time to find, vet, and train operatives, all the while a war was raging with US. This war had been going on long before George W Bush. He was just smart enough to recognize it for what it was, and act. He connected the dots on all these "terrorist acts", which when examined in todo, proved to be war against the US. His "smart" predecessor bombed an aspirin factory, in comparison.
So our military and clandestine agencies did what they could, converting the hearts and minds of these indigenous people. We assured them that we would not turn our backs on them, as we had in past Democrat administrations. Their struggle was our struggle, a struggle for freedom, however they defined freedom, not us. And these leathery men and women took up arms with America.
And we are winning. The question is, "What happens if we lose?"
Here's the wrap:
If they defeat us in principle abroad, I assure you that they have the "embeds", the Manchurian candidates to defeat us internally. Can you recognize them? They look like us, they talk like us, they act like us.
They understand our culture. They have their finger on the pulse of America, and in many cases are manipulating us, through our media and other means. Many of them teach our children in primary, secondary, and in colleges and universities, and they are at all levels of government.
The dismantling of GITMO, the de-fanging of America's military, laws against monitoring phone calls of terrorists, and the inability to harshly question terrorists come at such poignant time in America's War on Terror, and all have potentially devastating consequences.
Given all the intelligence that a president sees in America…perhaps the terrorists have us right where they want us?
That's my rant!

Thanks to Jimmy Carter who hamstrung the CIA and others we are sitting ducks.
When it comes to Intelligence gathering we're in the dark.Doesn't it seem odd that it always the left who pulls the plug on finding these things out?

Good article, great job Kevin.
"Juval Aviv was the Israeli Agent upon whom the movie ' Munich ' was based. He was Golda Meir's bodyguard -- she appointed him to track down and bring to justice the Palestinian terrorists who took the Israeli athletes hostage and killed them during the Munich Olympic Games.
In a lecture in New York City a few weeks ago, he shared information that EVERY American needs to know -- but that our government has not yet shared with us.
He predicted the London subway bombing on the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox News stating publicly that it would happen within a week. At the time, O'Reilly laughed and mocked him saying that in a week he wanted him back on the show. But, unfortunately, within a week the terrorist attack had occurred.
Juval Aviv gave intelligence (via what he had gathered in Israel and the Middle East ) to the Bush Administration about 9/11 a month before it occurred. His report specifically said they would use planes as bombs and target high profile buildings and monuments. Congress has since hired him as a security consultant.
Now for his future predictions. He predicts the next terrorist attack on the U.S. will occur within the next few months.
Forget hijacking airplanes, because he says terrorists will NEVER try and hijack a plane again as they know the people onboard will never go down quietly again. Aviv believes our airport security is a joke -- that we have been reactionary rather than proactive in developing strategies that are truly effective.
For example:
1) Our airport technology is outdated. We look for metal, and the new explosives are made of plastic.
2) He talked about how some idiot tried to light his shoe on fire. Because of that, now everyone has to take off their shoes. A group of idiots tried to bring aboard liquid explosives. Now we can't bring liquids on board. He says he's waiting for some suicidal maniac to pour liquid explosive on his underwear; at which point, security will have us all traveling naked! Every strategy we have is 'reactionary.'
3) We only focus on security when people are heading to the gates.
Aviv says that if a terrorist attack targets airports in the future, they will target busy times on the front end of the airport when/where people are checking in. It would be easy for someone to take two suitcases of explosives, walk up to a busy check-in line, ask a person next to them to watch their bags for a minute while they run to the restroom or get a drink, and then detonate the bags BEFORE security even gets involved. In Israel, security checks bags BEFORE people can even ENTER the airport.
Aviv says the next terrorist attack here in America is imminent and will involve suicide bombers and non-suicide bombers in places where large groups of people congregate. (i. e., Disneyland, Las Vegas casinos, big cities (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, etc.) and that it will also include shopping malls, subways in rush hour, train stations, etc., as well as rural America this time (Wyoming, Montana, etc.).
The attack will be characterized by simultaneous detonations around the country (terrorists like big impact), involving at least 5-8 cities, including rural areas.
Aviv says terrorists won't need to use suicide bombers in many of the larger cities, because at places like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they can simply valet park a car loaded with explosives and walk away.
Aviv says all of the above is well known in intelligence circles, but that our U. S. government does not want to 'alarm American citizens' with the facts.
The world is quickly going to become 'a different place', and issues like 'global warming' and political correctness will become totally irrelevant.
On an encouraging note, he says that Americans don't have to be concerned about being nuked. Aviv says the terrorists who want to destroy America will not use sophisticated weapons. They like to use suicide as a front-line approach. It's cheap, it's easy, it's effective; and they have an infinite abundance of young militants more than willing to 'meet their destiny'.
He also says the next level of terrorists, over which America should be most concerned, will not be coming from abroad. But will be, instead, 'homegrown' -- having attended and been educated in our own schools and universities right here in the U. S. He says to look for 'students' who frequently travel back and forth to the Middle East . These young terrorists will be most dangerous because they will know our language and will fully understand the habits of Americans; but that we Americans won't know/understand a thing about them.
Aviv says that, as a people, Americans are unaware and uneducated about the terroristic threats we will, inevitably, face. America still has only have a handful of Arabic and Farsi speaking people in our intelligence networks, and Aviv says it is critical that we change that fact SOON.
So, what can America do to protect itself?
From an intelligence perspective, Aviv says the U.S. needs to stop relying on satellites and technology for intelligence. We need to, instead, follow Israel 's, Ireland 's and England 's hands-on examples of human intelligence, both from an infiltration perspective as well as to trust 'aware' citizens to help. We need to engage and educate ourselves as citizens; however, our U. S. government continues to treat us, its citizens, 'like babies'. Our government thinks we 'can't handle the truth' and are concerned that we'll panic if we understand the realities of terrorism. Aviv says this is a deadly mistake.
Aviv recently created/executed a security test for our Congress, by placing an empty briefcase in five well-traveled spots in five major cities. The results? Not one person called 911 or sought a policeman to check it out. In fact, in Chicago, someone tried to steal the briefcase!
In comparison, Aviv says that citizens of Israel are so well 'trained' that an unattended bag or package would be reported in seconds by citizen(s) who know to publicly shout, 'Unattended Bag!' The area would be quickly & calmly cleared by the citizens themselves. But, unfortunately, America hasn't been yet 'hurt enough' by terrorism for their government to fully understand the need to educate its citizens or for the government to understand that it's their citizens who are, inevitably, the best first-line of defense against terrorism.
Aviv also was concerned about the high number of children here in America who were in preschool and kindergarten after 9/11, who were 'lost' without parents being able to pick them up, and about ours schools that had no plan in place to best care for the students until parents could get there. (In New York City, this was days, in some cases!)
He stresses the importance of having a plan, that's agreed upon within your family, to respond to in the event of a terroristic emergency. He urges parents to contact their children's schools and demand that the schools, too, develop plans of actions, as they do in Israel.
Does your family know what to do if you can't contact one another by phone? Where would you gather in an emergency? He says we should all have a plan that is easy enough for even our youngest children to remember and follow.
Aviv says that the U. S. government has in force a plan that, in the event of another terrorist attack, will immediately cut-off EVERYONE's ability to use cell phones, blackberries, etc., as this is the preferred communication source used by terrorists and is often the way that their bombs are detonated.
How will you communicate with your loved ones in the event you cannot speak? You need to have a plan."
Last ANON, "sacred bovine" Dude, you get the award for "Longest Posted Comment" on TBS blog! And the net is it validated what I said. The terrorists are amongst us! Thanks for the post, but make a quicker point, and use a hyperlink reference!

Early on in the election season it was implied by his opposition that McCain was the “Manchurian Candidate” because he was a POW programmed to turn the United States over to the our enemies when he became President, what other reason would he not want to Secure our National Borders and Enforce our Immigration Laws. Instead just maybe obama is the “Kenya or Indonesia or maybe Hawaii or where ever he was born Candidate” who was programmed to turn the United States over to our enemies and/or into a Socialist, Communist, Marxist, or Fascist Nation!
Soon the USA will be just like Holland and France. I know it. Where will be go?
My parents are from the Netherlands (Holland, lived in Rotterdam during WW2) and the have not gone back in 8 years... it has changed. The muslims have infiltrated many of those countries and you can bet there will be a rising up some day. They already cause a lot of problems and many have attained high govt positions.
Good read today Kevin!
Happy SB week-end
You would think there would be less assumption about Obama's intentions seeing as how he's following the radical handbook and going through it step by step. And as it's been suggested, exactly what was the quit pro quo owed to his foreign campaign supporters ? The U.S. ?
Great read Kevin. Thanks.
Wow, what a blog and a post. Much of this will give my wife, a victim of terrorist twice and seen dozen killed by these death cultist and how they use a country's traditions and culture against itself. Their's an oratator that I don't remember, that stated a country can survive it's fools and truely ambitious, but can't fight its enemies from within because that enemy speaks the dialect and follows the custom of the enemies he's trying to destory. Sounds like a lot of what's going on in the demoncratic party.
What should scare the hade's out of us, Obama, in his infinate wisdon, is planning for a withdrawal of Iraq and a full fledge assult in Afganistain. This should scare us for two reasons. Not only do we have a lack of intelligence, we have no support of these people. It can and most likely lead to a vietnam with the two biggest terrorist threats: Iran and Pakistain right between us. If we get defeated, and let's face it, Obama has no intention of winning that war, it would lead to major political and military collapse for us around the world as well as enboldend our two worse terrorist enemies and give them practice in their tactics against us.
The second, with our presence gone in Iraq, that will lead a power vacuum that will have Iran drooling to exploit and become a super Iran near all those oil reserves. Obama will get his $10 to $15 gas prices (any remember that statement?). Obama is going to be the biggest disaster to national security making Slick Willy and peanut Carter look like patriots in comparison if this plan goes into effect. You think we have intelligence problems (both miltary and IQ wise) now. I'm having nightmare and losing sleep over this and after this blog and previous post, we all should be.
Godspeed to us all.
Sunny - Great comment and insights, as usual!
MadMath1 - I agree that the libs are using "crisis management" as the way to complete destruction of this country. We have to make sure that they are the only ones in crisis.

"I read many times, from the right, that Obama was a "closet Muslim", ready to turn America over to terrorists. "
President Obama's first call 'was to President Abbas'
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and ...
>snip<
"The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office. Mr Obama also spoke to President Mubarak of Egypt, Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, and King Abdullah of Jordan."
>snip<
And then there is this: "In his first formal interview since taking office, the president spoke with the Dubai-based station Al Arabiya on topics pertinent to the Arab and Muslim worlds. Much of the interview was spent defining the new approach that the United States would implement in that region: respectfulness over divisiveness, listening over dictating, engagement over militarism. But the president drew the line when it came to terrorist organizations."

Let me tell you where the terrorists want us.
They want us afraid, they want us to lose our freedom, they want us to make ourselves look more evil in the face of the world, so that some real nation can justifiably attack us.
That is why I voted for Barack Obama, because he promised to systematically undue all of those things that Bush did, that put us directly where the terrorists wanted us.
Thank you and goodnight.

Yes - please go back to dreamland where all is peaceful and serene. Sweet dreams.
Although I am will not paint myself into an ideological corner by defining myself in dogmatic terms such as "liberal" or "conservative," I DO believe that Obama order to close Guantanimo was and is a mistake.

Anonymous~ I think that is a little far fetched to believe it is all that simple. In fact, quite naive. But if it helps you to justify your vote, then it works for me. Children will do what ever they want, if limits are not put on them. It is as old as time. But hey, you keep dreaming, while we do the work to make America safe!
Beyond - And that is why you are "beyond the political spectrum". That is not his only mistake, and I ask you this question, "What limits would you put on questioning somebody who took your child, and you know they have the answers for you to get your child back?"
